Faith in America was vastly different 300 years ago. What factors contributed to this change over time?

Christianity is changing there is no doubt about it. From the 1700’s in america where strict protestantism ruled the western land, or catholicism in the early years whom enforced strict rules with militaristic power. Now a days churches play rap music and have strobe lights, and many now consider themselves non denominational. Churches are attempting to appeal to students by these things to make things fun. This shift is clear, however many blame this for the decrease in christianity in the united states over the years. In fact, these people blame many things but do not take into account that maybe they are the reason my religion is diminishing. The people that blame instead of take accountability, and the people that force their views rather than listen are the problem. Our religion has become politicised and demoralized by the few who attempt at debating the little beliefs in their faith. These little faiths include stances on abortion, women's roles, social movements, and homosexuality. People have become so entrenched in debating the sides of these quote on quote debates, and they have fled from what matters most. God calls us to ‘love our neighbors’ and what have we done with that? The opposite. The debates have to stop. We most flee from political issues and focus on what matters most: loving others. We do not reach gods calling to make disciples by argument it simply will not work. So going forward how do we address this? How do we change this?
